Let’s talk about girls in the juvenile system. In 2007, a report found that while the arrest rate of juvenile offenders had decreased somewhat, the rate of arrests for teen girls actually increased by 2%, making them 29% of 1.2 million arrested that year. Girls committing crimes and ending up with records is still a big problem in the US. These records can ruin their entire lives, and often lead to other legal problems down the line.
Another important fact to note is that these girls finding themselves in the system are often victims of abuse by the time they commit crimes. Many will find themselves further victimized while incarcerated. This alarming situation underlines the importance of finding a safe, effective means of treatment where teenage girls currently facing issues can get the help they need.
The Problem With Therapy
Putting your teenage daughter in therapy is a great idea, as it can help her learn to recognize and cope with intense emotions, while getting to the bottom of their source. Unfortunately, in many situations therapy alone won’t be enough. Parents who have repeatedly sent their child to a therapist will know that it might not be effective enough.
What some trouble girls need is a more extensive and structured therapeutic experience. That is why so many parents at their wits end are turning to boarding schools to help them out.
What Is a Therapeutic Boarding School?
These institutions are inpatients therapy courses that are placed within the structured environment of a boarding school. Teen girls will attend classes while living on campus. In between they will attend both group and solo therapy sessions, and work with coaches trains to handle a multitude of issues, such as depression, anger, self harm, addiction, and more.
A boarding school is an excellent option because it works on two fronts. First is the therapy level, which will help heal many of the emotional wounds they are suffering from. Second, they will be getting help in improving their academic performance, which may be suffering.
Because the staff is trained to deal with common problems suffered by teens in this situation, a boarding school can be the perfect environment for them. Their specialities include:

- Suicidal ideation
- Addiction
- Self harm

Eric Allred was born and raised in Rigby, Idaho. He grew up on a family farm where he learned the value of work. He graduated from Rigby High School and attended Rick’s College, now known as BYU-Idaho. He received his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Utah State University, received a master’s degree in organizational behavior and human relations from the University of Phoenix and a second master’s degree in marital and family therapy from Phillips Graduate Institute. Eric has been involved in Rotary and was president of a local Rotary Club. He enjoys being with his family and doing outdoor activities such as fly fishing.
Chase was very fortunate to start in this industry as a struggling 17 year old kid looking for a mentor and something to be passionate about. Wilderness therapy was Chase’s first stop in this industry and was truly a transcendental experience for him. Chase has an enormous love for this line of work and the power that it has in creating change in everyone involved. Chase’s biggest belief is the power a mentor, strong, healthy relationships, and accountability can have on anyone, especially youth. Taking a very relational approach to his work, Chase has always been very relatable to the students he works with. Being able to understand and relate to a vast variety of the same struggles as a lot of the students he works with has been able to help him continue to grow, learn, and teach. Chase believes that with great rapport and trust, he can use his experience to continue to coach and train new staff, and has the ability to find those staff with the passion for this industry, and help them grow. His love and passion can be felt the moment you talk with Chase about this industry and he passes that on to others he works with. In his spare time you will find Chase cheering for the Eagles, Yankees, and Mavericks, hanging out with his brother, learning more about Eastern Psychology, and continuing to grow and learn.
