Employee Highlight – Teresa Berger

Teresa grew up in a small town in Southern Utah called Parowan. Teresa says she is the person she is today because of the town she grew up in and the many coaches she had throughout high school. Teresa has two daughters and spends her free time outside of work with her family. Teresa previously worked at an elementary school with kindergartners and also in special education classrooms. She took a break when her youngest daughter was born and in May of 2018, she got her start at Havenwood Academy. “This job has taught me so much about the importance of the brain, especially with youth and trauma history. Being adopted myself, I knew I wanted to have a job with purpose and something I enjoy with youth. The most rewarding thing I love to see and be apart of is seeing the switch the girls make for themselves and seeing them work through hard things and negative behaviors. I’m a firm believer that people come into our lives for a reason, so why not make it meaningful for our youth.

Teresa has been a phenomenal employee for Havenwood for a long time. She works so well with our girls, helping them understand and apply their treatment program. She comes in every day ready to learn and leave an impact on our young women. We have been extremely lucky to have her strong work ethic and leadership in our program.
